East Coast Music
Production Camp
The east coast music production
camp is full of producers that use mostly analog
equipment like mpc drum machines. Some even have the
classic ASR-10 boards.
The upper and northern portions of the
United States music producers are all about how their drums
swing.
The samples they use in production are the
gulliest too.
For some reason it seems they have perfected the art of
chopping a sample over West Coast or Southern beat makers.
A camp that focuses on audio production as a job and not fun
or a hobby is what makes the music seem so alive.
Swizz Beatz has marked the streets with his
sound but believe me there are thousands more that rock just as
hard. They just don't have a name for themselves yet.
Up north for the most part you are learning to dribble a
ball or how to produce music. Let's not even mention the
rappers.
No college courses or formal education programs like
Julliard. Just the streets a drum machine like the MPC 2000
workhorse and some record crates.
I have ran up on some east coast kids in recording studios
that will crush most people with just a akai production
center and some headphones. Real talk!
