You also need to watch a bunch of television including YouTube. Go ahead and program MTV, VH1 and BET on your remote control. I'm not kidding.

The best way to learn is by watching and taking notes. don't be afraid to be called names like a "Biter". Trust me the one that copies the best, makes the most money.

Schools Help With The Basics

Film has to be in you. Huh? That doesn't make since. I know, I don't mean literally.

What I'm saying is a certain part of shooting motion video has to be natural.

Steven Spielberg, Hype Williams or Spike Lee didn't learn all they know by attending film school.

They all watched media programs and other video producers that came long before them. Then they took that knowledge and let their own abilities flow. The result.

Millions of dollars and creative motion film pictures that are going down in history.

Don't Be Afraid To Fail

I don't know post production. I can't work a camera. It's too hard to shoot a documentary. Know what I say.

STOP MAKING EXCUSES!

None of these things are true. Well let me say this. They are true only if you believe they are true.

I shot a killer documentary of my family. I just wanted to put out family tree on DVD for family members to have and pass down forever.

I don't know the first thing about shooting videos. However, I let my desire to accomplish this task take over. The result was a 92 minute documentary that my family will enjoy long after I'm gone.

What Did I Use To Film?

If you are looking to do what I did without spending a bunch of money it's easy. I have an Apple Mac Book Pro which is incredible. It has a built in Camera, photo and video editing software that is very good.

The Mac Book also allows you to add music and narration to your videos. The dang laptop has a built in microphone.

I simply used a Sony Cyber-Shot Digital Camera with 5 megapixels of clarity. They make far better cameras now for less than what I paid to get mine new years ago.

THAT'S IT! Trust me...it was not hard and the work is very professional.

Remember we live in an era where technology is very powerful. Gadgets are only getting more powerful for less money.
