Production Music Library

Is your production music library deep. If you are a music producer and you don't have a minimum of 500 beats or songs in your library you are behind.

Most professional music producers have 1,000 beats on deck at any given time. WHAT? Yup, you never know when you may have to battle or be in front of a major record label.

What Def Jam Records Did To Me

I had a connection that got me through the door of Def Jam for a music listening session.

Oh, boy this is exciting and I'm ready to show the world what I have. DISASTER HITS!

I walk through the huge doors for Studio A and the walls are packed down with others producers. Dammit, what is this?

The first thing the MC says is "If you don't have at least 500 beats in your hand then leave, RIGHT NOW!

Huh? This was my big chance to rock the ears of Russell Simmons, LL Cool J, Jay-Z and others and I'm leaving within two minutes. This Sucks!

Later I Found Out Why?

Luckily I had a partner that I knew from the Internet that did make it through the 3rd round.

They told the the survivors as soon as we left that there are several artist on this record label and they all need material.

One artist may use up 25 of your hottest tracks and run through 100 or more before they even select the first one they like.

Now take that and multiply it by several artist. I only had 116 beats with me that day.

NO WAY could I make it. I wasn't ready! What a lesson to learn.

What About Music Production Libraries (Samples)

This is all good. I have a very deep library of Sample Loops and Drums.

If you can buyout music samples to enhance your production I highly recommend it. Apple loops for you Mac users are crazy. PC heads you should be all over sony acid and their samples.

Most of the number one Billboard Hits on the radio have some type of custom samples and drums in the music production. I have plenty of royalty free and ready to go samples on deck.

If you are really serious about getting money from your production you will sell them to broadcast networks. Huge companies like HGTV, EA Sports etc..etc all look for production for their shows and products.

Next time you watch television listen to the music in the background. Most of it is made up of music production sample libraries.
