what is the best music production software

The best music production software is the one that you can operate with ease and are the most comfortable with as a producer. Yup, we can argue all day about Sampletank, Propellerhead Reason, Fl Studio, Cakewalk, Cubase or any of  Native Instruments gear but it’s useless.

I personally know a producer that will crush 90% of the the market with just FL Studio and Sampletank as a VST. Then again he has been playing piano and other instruments for 18 years. At the end of the day they are all virtual keyboards and synthesizers and they can only do what a person makes them do.

That means skill level, natural talent and knowledge will decide everyday what is a better production software. However, my personal choices are the first three pieces I named at the beginning of this post. Go get them!

Well that’s a hard question because every producer is different.

I make mostly RnB and Hip Hop songs so I have a select few software programs I use.

Here is what I have on my computer.  For my RnB production I use FL Studio 5 with Sampletank as a VST. I also have EMU’s Proteus 2000 and Mo Phatt soundfonts running. My Hip Hop production is done with Propellerheads Reason 4.0. I have all the hot Refills like the Roland Fantom X6, Yamaha ES and Sonic Reality sounds.

So to answer the above question I would have to say that the listed programs are the best. However, that’s my opinion and you will have to make your own. That’s a great guide though.

You hardly ever get any good modules or VST’s that you can really use.

UNLESS! You pay. That’s right! most people complain because they are only looking for the FREE stuff. If you want great software like IK Multimedia Sampletank, Soundforge, Acid Pro, FL Studio or Propellerhead Reason you will have to fork over some cash.

The great thing is these programs will not cost you an arm or a leg and they will make you so much money if properly used. I started my production company with a software program called Master Tracks Pro. Now that’s old school.
