The LE version is much more easier to learn than the HD platform though. If you are a slacker I’m told you want to stay completely away from the HD version.

You have to be careful though because you have the home based recording studios and then you have the ones that I prefer as a producer in the ATL and I refer all my singers and rappers to.

If you go outside of what I’m recommending you are risking a bad recording session and may have to get your song done over. Some of the talent here is so braod on the scale it’s like comparing a Lexus to a Kia. Sure they will both get you to where you are going it’s just that the Lexus is going to be more comfortable, faster and more reliable in the long run. Here is who I use in Atlanta for recording and production when I need them.

Tree Sound Studios – Phone: (770) 242-8944 Fax: (770) 242-0155

Patch Werk Recording Studios – www.patchwerk.com – (404) 874-9880

Carrington House Studio (Owned by singer Ne-Yo)

Stankonia Studio – (Owned by Rappers Outkast) – 677 Antone Street, Atlanta, GA. 30318

There are plenty of ways to sell beats to a major label but you will have to jump through hoops to do it. Most labels are now rocking sub-labels under them and those labels usually stick to family and entourage to get more money. For instance to get to Interscope you have to channel trough labels like Aftermath (Dr. Dre’), Shady AfterMath (Eminem) or G-Unit (50 Cent).

The chances of you selling a beat directly to Interscope is very small. That’s not to say that you can’t though. I’m just saying you have a better chance of going through a sub-label of a Major.

Use companies like Taxi.com to find out who is looking for beats and you will get all the inside information you need to get started on that path. Good Luck!

Tip** Sell your music to the Indie Labels…They are always looking for new and hot tracks for their artist. It’s what I do to make a lot of money selling beats online.

I have never taken music recording classes and I still do really well when it comes to selling music online. I’m mainly production but every once and awhile when I produce a really hot song I call in my vocalist to sing on itmusic so I can sell the package deal of lyrics. I record all my vocals and music into Cubase SX with the Waves Diamond Bundle plugin package. The quality of the audio is ridiculously clear once I’m finished. Guess what! I also use a PC sometimes just like the picture of the students above. Sure the Macbook Pro is king but sometimes I feel like a nut and sometimes I don’t.

Normally when it comes to a great starter home recording studio you will hear the names Steinberg or Cakewalk. Personally I use Cubase SX. Yeah I know there are updated versions of the software but I mastered SX and it makes me a lot of money when selling my music online. I have Nuendo too which is just a serious upgrade of Cubase but I hardly even use it. I keep things simple in my studio and it pays me well. Many others also choose Steinberg for home recording so I would at least check it out if I were you. It’s simple to use and there are many people online to help you answer questions about anything regarding it.

Once you have mastered your production software of choice getting the audio to repsond the way you want is just a matter of production skills. There are many different programs to get sound. Once you put together a great suite of your choice you will be happy for a long time.

My personal selections are FL Studio, Sampletank from IK Multimedia and Reason of Propellerhead software.

The most important shield to buy will be for the drummer and his set. The drums easily bleed into the vocal mics and other instrument mic setups and can make everything muddy.
ClearSonic Sound shields can run anywhere from $500 to $2000 depending on what type of surround coverage you need. If you are looking into purchasing one of these and need more information check out this website.

Plus they just want to be comfortable. If you want to know where to get great ideas just start watching HGTV and take a trip to IKEA. Man these Swedish people really know what they are doing in this store. You can find some really cool stuff to place in your studio in IKEA.

Make sure you stay toward a modern look and not go weird like Traditional. You can experience with contemporary and that will work too.

Let me say this. I practically ran out of that place. As a producer I can’t be in that type of environment. Plus you can ruin some very expensive equipment with that smoke attaching itself to the circuit boards. No way I’m I breaking out my Apple Mac Book Pro in a studio like that.
